Board Training and Development

The following Board Members have successfully completed a minimum of 4 hours of professional development and leadership training covering topics in education and labor law, financial oversight and accountability, fiduciary responsibilities of a school board member, trauma-informed practices for students and staff, and, improving student outcomes: Richard Facko, William Grady, Kathy Lachowicz, Amy Lyons, Patricia Powell, Kristin Restivo and Gail Rubio.

Kathy Lachowicz

Mrs. Kathy Lachowicz, Secretary

  • 30 year resident of Palos Heights

  • Single parent of 2002 alumni (Ashley)

  • Works at Shepard High School as a Para Professional

  • Board of Education member since 2000

  • President of homeowners association, 

  • Treasurer of League of Women Voters

  • Coordinator of spring craft show at Shepard

  • Past member of CHSD218 Foundation

Patti Powell

Dr. Patti Powell

  • Married to Rick Powell for 40 years

  • Three adult children, two daughters in law, and four grandchildren

  • One grandson a student at Chippewa

  • Resident of Palos Heights for 24 years

  • Professor of special education at Trinity Christian College for 20 years

  • Music teacher at Elim Christian Services for 15 years

  • BA in Music and Elementary Education from Calvin College

  • MEd in Deaf Education from the University of Arizona

  • PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Illinois at Chicago

Mrs. Gail Rubio

Mrs. Gail Rubio

  • Resident of Palos Heights since 2010

  • Four Children (3 graduates of the district and a 5th grader)

  • B.A. in Special Education from Benedictine University

  • M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University

  • M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University

  • Former High School Teacher

  • 9 years of Administrative Experience

  • Currently serve as Director for Special Services for Consolidated High School District 230

Richard Facko

Dr. Richard Facko

  • Married to Cassie; Father of four children

  • Resident of Palos Heights since 1986

  • Graduate of District 128

  • Small business owner in Palos Heights

  • Board member since April 2017

Amy Lyons

Mrs. Amy Lyons

  • Married to Tom since 1997

  • Mom to 5 daughters

  • Moved to Palos Heights in 2004

  • Kids in District 128 since 2005, continuing through 2026

  • B.S. in the Teaching of English

  • M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction

William Grady

Mr. William Grady

  • Resident of Palos Heights since 2005

  • Married to Kim since 2000

  • Two boys have gone through the district (2018 & 2020 graduate)

  • Accounting Degree from Illinois State

  • Finance Director, CPA

  • Board Member since April 2017

Kristin Restivo

Mrs. Kristin Restivo

  • Resident of Palos Heights since 2008

  • One child currently in district (8th grade)

  • B.A. in Elementary Education

  • M.A. in Teaching & Leadership

  • Board member since November 2016

Regular school board meetings are typically held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. They are held in the board room at District Office (12809 S. McVickers Ave).
